We seek to provide a relaxed, inclusive, and welcoming space for unaffiliated young adults as well as to enhance the experience of current members of the congregation. Our gatherings tend toward the informal - occasional dinners and get-togethers around holidays (e.g. Purim and a post-Passover chametz fest) - with a rotating cast of characters. The shifting membership does not affect the group's cohesion as we strive to make newcomers and repeat attendees feel welcome by always introducing all who are present. Some of us are members of Machar, and some folks sign up with and visit this havurah a few times before deciding whether to join the congregation. We're straight and queer, singles and couples, Jews and people of other heritages, and we all enjoy getting together with fellow free-thinkers and heretics to celebrate holidays in funky new ways, have a few drinks and laughs, go to rallies and parties and such, and connect with other progressives. Please join us for our upcoming events (use the link below to join our email group to get details as they are announced). The Young Adult Havurah is made up of 20- and 30-something members of Machar. It provides an egalitarian, volunteer-driven social outlet for those pursuing higher education, entry and mid-level worker bees, and new families. This is a good entry-point for young adults contemplating membership in Machar.
