When Machar's founding members decided to step back a few years ago from their long-standing leadership roles, they didn't disappear from Machar. Their retirement was a gradual one, certainly borne of their great love for the congregation and their commitment to its success. But step back they did, and instead founded the Machar Senior Havurah. Pretty much running itself and meeting in one another's homes, this group has included events such as concerts, plays, dinners, and speakers. And it grew. The Senior Havurah welcomes all Machar members who define themselves as seniors, elders, older adults, or whatever term works. The photo here includes some younger Macharniks, along with founders, at a recent celebration of Machar's 30th anniversary.
