Sugar StreetMachar's book club will meet on April 22 at the home of Martha Mednick to discuss Sugar Street, by Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz, which follows the Abd al-Jawad family from a rising tide of nationalist sentiment in 1935 through the darkness and confusion of WWII, as Britain defends an officially neutral Egypt.
