The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) was one of the major civil rights organizations during the 1960’s. Its chairmen included, Marion Barry, John Lewis and Stokely Carmichael. Less well known among the public was the second chairman Charles McDew who was a convert to Judaism. His lifelong partner, Beryl Gilfix, who cowrote with him, Tell the Story, A Memoir of the Civil Rights Movement, will discuss Mcdew’s lifelong work in the civil rights movement before his passing in 2018.
