Builders and Dreamers: Habonim Dror and Transformational Jewish Camping
This talk will also include an intergenerational dialogue on Jewish camps over the years, so please come prepared with a few words about a Jewish summer camp you, your children, or grandchildren attended, and what it meant to your family and your relationship with Judaism. Gil Browdy is the chair of the Habonim Dror Camping Association, an organization representing and building support for the Habonim Dror camps in North America. Gil grew up in Kensington, MD and attended Camp Moshava himself, before going on to work at other Habonim Dror camps and serving as the National Director of Habonim Dror North America. After making Aliyah, he continued working with Habonim Dror youth, building and running summer and gap-year programs, and also served as an English teacher for at-risk youth in Israel’s periphery. Since returning to the U.S., Gil has served on the board of Camp Moshava and currently works as a software engineer. Karin Hammou, the Director of Engagement at Camp Mosh will also be onsite.
