DESCRIPTION:First Session for an Ongoing Series on Pirkei Avot\n\nWe'll loo
 k at the text from which Rabbi Tarfon's teaching and many others come ("If
  I am not for myself\, who will be for me...")\, and ask: what does it mea
 n? What does it mean for me? Where in this work can I find inspiration and
  -- dare I say it? -- understanding of our world and work\, and reason for
  hope?\n\nWe'll start at 1:1 and finish at the end (6:11) in an ongoing\, 
 year-round project beginning on February 3 and lasting for one hour\, 7 to
  8 pm. This will be a critical and historical look at Pirkei Avot. Will we
  find wisdom? At times. Folly? Certainly that\, as well. Something interes
 ting? Almost always.\n\n"Do I need to know Hebrew?" Goodness\, no. There a
 re plenty of translations\, and at times we'll compare translations to see
  what seems like the best reading to our modern eyes.\n\nZoom link will be
